Job Summary:

Assists in the tasks associated with construction related to road, bridge, and utility construction, including site preparation and paving operations on highways, streets and parking lots.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
  2. Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
  3. Safely operate vehicles, tools and equipment, including, but not limited to on-road vehicles, jack-hammers, air compressors, skid plate tampers, shovels, rakes, brooms, and other hand tools.
  4. Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning of construction equipment.
  5. Direct movement of traffic through site, using signs, hands and flag signals.
  6. Maintains clean and organized working areas.
  7. Works closely with skilled laborers and craft workers to complete projects.
  8. Engages in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned construction projects.
Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Valid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required.
Skills:
  1. Previous experience in asphalt paving, concrete paving, bridge construction and/or other construction-related field preferred.
  2. Heavy Equipment experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines.
  2. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  3. Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device.
  4. Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity.
  5. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  6. Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain.
  7. Frequent exposure to loud noise.
  8. Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
  9. Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals.
  10. Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required.
