Senior Manager, External Communications EMEA

Position overview:
The role will support the overall vision of Ball brand and business objectives by managing external communications campaigns, topics and issues for Beverage Packaging in EMEA region and PHC division globally, in order to maintain, protect, and enhance Ball's reputation and brand. The position will plan and drive media relations / public relations activities and will be responsible for the creation, management and implementation of relevant social media and owned content initiatives. This role partners with core Ball business and creative teams that support the company (e.g. PR agencies) to bring brand-enhancing work to market, across all external social channels and stages of the customer journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Focus on media relations and general news release development, marketing initiatives, branding and advertising, website content, and other public relations activities; plays a key role in the creation and delivery of content.
- Crisis prevention and management.
- Effective deployment and management of PR agencies network.
- Media monitoring and bringing the relevant local news and context to the team.
- Thought leadership and positioning Ball leaders in proper external communications channels.
- Responsible for developing and executing communication plans to support human resources/ TA/ D&I, commercial / marketing, sustainability, community, diversity & inclusion, etc.
- Creates and produces relevant communications materials, press releases, executive quotes, speeches, videos, announcements, presentations, public relations strategy, social media strategy and content and associated communication activities to support key initiatives.
- Assigns activities to external partners (PR agencies, design agencies); directs, assigns and/or collaborates with agencies across the globe.
- Planning and execution of external events including consumer, customer, community and media events; planning and management of speaking opportunities of both business leaders (conferences, panel debates, etc).
- Demonstrates writing excellence when crafting internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc.
- Develops and fosters relationships companywide and manages projects with colleagues at all levels and across all regions and businesses to achieve Company objectives.
- Manages budgets, agencies and suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective resource allocation to support the corporate communication function.
What are we looking for?
- Job-related external communications experience for minimum 10-12 years.
- Proficiency in English – proven by relevant certification corresponding with C2 Proficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of public relations or corporate communications practices.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Microsoft SharePoint, HTML, graphic design, photo editing and video production/editing would be an advantage (not obligatory).
- Ability to generate creative ideas and analyze and communicate complex information.
- Ability to partner with business functions; develop and execute communication plans to achieve business objectives.
