About the role
We are looking for a Technical Lead who will take a leading role in developing back-end applications for financial data analysis. Applications developed provide APIs for analysis of market data both historically and in real-time streaming fashion. API customers include GUI applications as well as direct API callers, with an emphasis on producing substantial analytics on large data sets in rapid time (seconds or sub-second). The applications developed span multiple asset types, including equities, commodities, and fixed income products.

Responsibilities

Engineering:
Provides design recommendations, develops application and custom integration solutions including major improvements and interfaces.
Implements solutions using the appropriate programming languages and tools.
Able to independently research, analyze, and resolve sophisticated problems and issues.
Researches new and emerging technologies.
Researches, and recommends external and internal tools, applications, and platforms.
Candidate should be flexible and eager to learn new systems or languages, as required.
Carries out unit testing and implements multi-functional systems ensuring system meets need s of client and business.

Leadership:
Leads or works on multiple projects with varying levels of complexity and acts as oversight and of lower levels.
Work with external contractors.
Will mentor individuals within the group.
Leads own and team resources in accordance with project schedule.
Experience in Scrum workflow and using JIRA will be advantageous.
Practices and promotes good coding practices among the team: tested, clean and w ell-commented code, proper source versioning (Git) practices.

Client Engagement:
Reviews product requirements and works with product managers to modify them as needed.
Develops functional specifications and system design specifications based on client and product team input.
Serves as an authority or liaison for technology issues.
Works closely with UI teams to align back-end requirements.

Information Security:
Designs software and architectures with information se curity built-in at the onset.
Implements and use required security monitoring tools including static code analysis and vulnerability scanners.
Performs and evaluates application security reviews on an ongoing basis, assess issues identified, and take steps to resolve issues.

Audit & Compliance:
Coordinates, plans, and implements information technology compliance and regulatory audits.
Tracks and follows up on remediation efforts from issues identified in the audit process.
Revi ews effort to ensure compliance to application architecture standards.

Operational Support:
Implements sufficient monitoring and alarming for automated error handling.
Able to maintain IaC code and perform DevOps tasks when appropriate.
Designs resilient and redundant systems.
Follows procedures from Operations teams for the proper release and maintenance of applications.
Supports Operations team for diagnosis of issues in running systems when needed.

Experience and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, or related technical / scientific field
4+ years of relevant technical coding experience
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Technical Skills Required:
Broad experience in Java / Spring Boot
Web Services, REST APIs, WebSocket
Multithreading concepts and practice
Data structures
Git or other source control, CI/CD/Jenkins, Unit testing frameworks

Technical Skills - Nice to have:
Experience with a range of languages (C/C++, Python, etc.)
Experience with cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure)
Experience with financial concepts and data protocols (Elektron, RWF)
Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS
Kafka, SQS, other streaming mes saging protocols
