Sunscrapers is a leading force in software development, expanding its presence in a data-centric environment. We're seeking a talented Lead Data Engineer to join our mission to help clients grow and innovate through a comprehensive tech stack and robust data-related projects.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll design and implement a system supporting the investment process for a US-based venture capital firm. You'll integrate data from multiple systems and sources to enable data insights, machine learning, and data-driven decision processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the product team in the US (east and west coasts)
  • Lead a team of 3-4 data engineers (2 in-house + 2 on client side)
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Manage multiple technical projects, ensuring timely delivery, scope, and budget
  • Supervise project delivery and develop best engineering practices
  • Grow tech teams and individuals through support, advice, and mentorship
  • Tackle challenging technical problems and find solutions
  • Share technical expertise with the client and other team members
  • Contribute to hiring the most talented engineers
Requirements
  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a software developer
  • Managerial or team leading experience
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Expertise in data warehouses, especially Snowflake
  • Good expertise in relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
  • Expertise in DBT and DBT Cloud
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud, especially ECS, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, RDS
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Passion for good engineering practices and ability to inspire the team
  • Proficiency in data architecture and modeling
  • Experience with Airflow
  • Ability to design, implement, and monitor data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience with infrastructure and deployment automation with Terraform
  • Experience with Git version control systems
  • Passion, self-reliance, and 'get things done' approach
  • Proactiveness and positive attitude to work (and life:))
  • Fluent English
