About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Asset Manager to join our team at Volvo Group. As a key member of our global unit, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our IT assets, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and providing expert advice on software licensing and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Licensing advisory: Identify risks, software usage, and license consumption optimization opportunities, software licensing, and software services.
  • Operationally manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
  • Enforce license compliance, perform internal audits, and inventory follow-ups.
  • Secure that applications procurement and distribution are performed in line with the Volvo Group policies.
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the consolidated budget for software products and licenses.
  • Function as a main contact when external audits occur.
  • Support strategic, tactical, and commercial discussions along with decisions that affect software and licenses (according to the vendor interaction model).
  • Participate in negotiations and supplier dialogues when applicable.
  • Advise relevant project, program, infrastructure, and application portfolio managers on software licensing and compliance, recommended actions that will optimize the software portfolio.
  • Be updated within the area (new licensing models, trends, and be part of communities, etc.).
  • Perform regular status updates to relevant management teams about the software asset situation (volumes, utilizations, KPIs, etc.).
  • Cooperate and maintain relationships with external suppliers and consulting companies.
  • Drive and maintain your own SAM external and internal network, represent the Volvo Group on external events and conferences, SAM events, etc.
  • Remove road blockers.
  • Suggest ways to move forward.
Requirements
  • Proven professional history within license management and administration, software licensing, software asset management for end-user/desktop software and mid-tail software products and services.
  • Proven track of end-user/desktop software and mid-tail software licensing principles and contractual aspects expertise.
  • Experience from leading in a global context, cross-cultural awareness, and skills.
  • Experience with ITSM and SAM tools is an asset (SAM Pro, FNMEA, FNMS, FlexeraOne).
  • Autonomous task management and initiative/proactiveness skills.
  • Ability to identify, understand, and prioritize the interests, needs, and concerns of various stakeholders, including executive level, from the SAM perspective.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Clear sense of end-to-end ownership.
  • Comfort with multi-source data analysis.
  • Technical background is an asset.
  • Relevant university degree.
  • Complete proficiency in English is a requirement.
  • Experience with vendor management is an asset.
  • Negotiations skills are an asset.
