Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team as part of Vattenfall's Staff Function IT. This role will provide guidance on building solutions to enhance availability, performance, and stability of automation platforms. You will work closely with the team in building software delivery pipelines, deploying and monitoring services, responding to alerts and notifications, and learning from incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the transformation and implementation of business needs and requirements into automation solutions;
  2. Design, build, and maintain automated scripts using RESTful APIs, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems;
  3. Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines to develop and maintain automations, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and teamwork;
  4. Deliver orchestrated workflows within defined processes, leveraging CI/CD, DevSecOps, Software Development Lifecycle, and the vRealize Suite along with other 3rd party systems to achieve desired outcomes;
  5. Participate in on-call shifts for high-availability automated workflows, ensuring prompt response to critical issues;
  6. Run automation platform upgrades and migrations, minimizing downtime and disruptions;
  7. Develop, release, and support automation code for the SDDC platform, guaranteeing scalability and reliability;
  8. Take end-to-end responsibility for the automation platform and related services, ensuring seamless operation and continuous improvement.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong academic background or equivalent experience in automation engineering;
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Ansible, GitLab, and Artifactory;
  • Experience with collaboration stacks, including Source Code Management tools (Gitlab, AzureDevOps), Issue Tracking tools, CI/CD pipelines, etc.;
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Ansible, JavaScript, and design, build, and maintain automated scripts using RESTful APIs;
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows and Linux) and data center technologies and automation;
  • Business-fluent English (spoken and written).
