  1. Job Summary

The Indirect Tax Compliance Manager will be a key member of the Shared Services Center and Indirect Tax Team, serving as the central point of contact for all VAT compliance-related matters in Europe.



This role will work closely with the SSC team in Poznan to ensure LYB's compliance responsibilities are met, collaborating with appropriate resources to maintain optimal VAT positions while managing processes and risks.



The Indirect Tax Compliance Manager will be based in Poznan, Poland, and will work closely with other tax and finance functions, partnering with the business to ensure end-to-end involvement across all functions.



Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:




  • Ensuring LYB's compliance with local VAT/Intrastat rules by managing the on-time filing and payment of VAT returns, EC sales listings, Intrastat, and other reports as required for registered EU countries.
  • Managing data-driven tax audit requests in coordination with local tax teams and the VAT counsel.
  • Acting as an interface between shared services, local country tax teams, the Director Global Indirect Tax, and the VAT counsel team for indirect tax-related data requests.
  • Developing and implementing process improvements in relation to the shared service center approach.
  • Continuously monitoring quality data through daily checks and controls.
  • Maintaining and updating the VAT compliance calendar, including filing dates of VAT returns, statistical reports, VAT listings, VAT summary, and VAT corrections.
  • Providing training, guidance, support, and solutions to other departments and internal staff members on VAT compliance.
  • Liaising with internal and external audits and ensuring corrective actions on findings are implemented, including European key controls in the VAT compliance area.
  • Collaborating with SSC leadership to ensure all VAT tax procedures and processes are fully documented and updated at regular intervals.
  • Supporting Accounts payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit, and CSR teams to ensure follow-up on potential issues and adjusting incorrectly issued invoices in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with the tax technology team and IT department to ensure SAP VAT tables are kept up to date.
  • Reviewing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and other established financial internal controls.
  • Ensuring LYB's VAT compliance software is up to date and compliance dashboards are produced to monitor KPIs.
  • Monitoring legislative changes in cooperation with the VAT Counsel Team and Global Compliance & audit manager.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:




  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economy, Taxation, or a similar field, with a Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in indirect taxes, with Big 4 and industry experience preferred.
  • In-depth indirect tax knowledge in at least one EU jurisdiction, with multiple jurisdictions preferred.
  • Matrix reporting lines and collaboration with teams in a shared service environment.
  • Establishing indirect tax compliance procedures and controls.
  • Deep familiarity with EU indirect tax compliance processes, including monthly and annual VAT returns, EC sales listings, Intrastat, and other filings.
  • Interface between country organizations and shared services.
  • Providing training, guidance, support, and solutions to other departments and internal staff members on VAT compliance.
  • Indirect tax audit support with internal and external auditors and the tax authorities.
  • Planning of indirect tax payable and receivables and support of AR and AP teams.
  • Implementation of legislative changes in the compliance process.
