As a Cloud Computing Engineer, you will work on critical projects that require versatility, leadership skills, and enthusiasm for tackling complex problems.

The Borg team operates as a group of smaller teams focused on various aspects of cluster management. Each team addresses distinct challenges: from machine-level agents to spatial flexibility solutions. Our stack is primarily C++. Google's work involves data analysis, collaboration, coding, and debugging.

In this role, you will focus on scaling up Google's core cluster-management component, Borg Prime, using data analysis and parallel programming techniques to support increasingly large workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product issues, debug, and resolve them by analyzing sources and impact on hardware, network, or service operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages and data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with multithreaded programming and refactoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
