About the Job

We are seeking a skilled High-Availability Database Support Professional to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing dedicated database support for our Group Financial Crime Prevention (GFCP) team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases on Linux and Windows environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery configurations are in place and tested.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance using tools and custom scripts, analyze and resolve database bottlenecks, and provide recommendations for query optimization and schema design improvements.
  • Backup and Recovery: Manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) compliance through rigorous testing.
  • Security Management: Implement and maintain database security, encryption, and auditing, conducting regular vulnerability assessments and remediating findings.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop scripts for automating routine tasks using Bash, Python, or equivalent, enhancing operational efficiency through CI/CD pipeline integration for database changes.
  • Operational Support: Proactively monitor the health and performance of database systems, identifying and addressing issues before they impact users, and document operational procedures, standards, and best practices.
Expected Competences and Knowledge
  • 7+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, including hands-on operational expertise in managing production databases.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale PostgreSQL environments with replication, clustering, or partitioning.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, extensions, and tools.
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization and debugging.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux environments, including shell scripting and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana, or pgAdmin.
  • PostgreSQL certifications such as PostgreSQL CE or equivalent.
