Job Summary

This position will operate a dock truck that transports cargo to and from specified local destinations. The size of the truck is more than three tons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service.
  • Assist in loading, securing, and unloading cargo.
  • Maintain radio or telephone contact with the dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in the schedule.
  • Maintain logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and presentation.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform all job functions.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper inventory delivered and picked up.
  • Responsible for checking all inventory logs against delivered and picked up merchandise.
  • Must be licensed to operate a semi-truck.
  • Must have a clear driving record.
  • Responsible for daily inspections of the vehicle.
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.
  • Work in other areas and roles as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Safe driver with knowledge of the Twin Cities area.
  • Good people skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and write English.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class A license with airbrakes experience.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Must be available for long, varied work hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of driving experience in a similar position.
  • No traffic violations in the last three years.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment.
  • Will require regular ground travel to other company facilities within the local metropolitan area.
