Moderna is seeking an Associate Director, Global Procurement Strategy & Optimization, to drive strategic leadership and operational excellence across the global procurement function. This Warsaw-based individual contributor role sits at the center of our procurement evolution, blending strategic vision with analytical precision. You will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer and act as a critical member of the Procurement Leadership Team. This position demands an exceptional ability to lead data-driven initiatives, develop and deploy high-impact procurement strategies, and optimize operational frameworks to match Moderna's scale and pace. With exposure to executive-level reporting, cross-functional collaboration, and Generative AI tooling, this role represents a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of procurement in one of the world's most innovative biotech companies.
Here's What You'll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Partnering with the Chief Procurement Officer to shape procurement strategy aligned with Moderna's growth vision, with a strong focus on cost structure insights (e.g., purchased services, travel spend).
Leading sourcing operations, including oversight of monthly financial close activities, spend tracking vs. plan, variance explanation, and cost control initiatives.
Spearheading the implementation of transformative procurement strategies that challenge convention and deliver sustainable competitive advantage.
Acting as a key liaison for cross-functional procurement projects to ensure execution on time and on budget.
Leading global benchmarking and performance measurement to identify continuous improvement opportunities and optimization levers.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Implementing and refining strategic sourcing frameworks, including the execution of RFx events and development of advanced negotiation strategies.
Driving procurement digitization efforts by integrating modern analytics, reporting, and real-time data tools to elevate operational agility.
Preparing impactful executive-level presentations that clearly communicate procurement strategies, KPIs, and initiative outcomes to senior stakeholders.
Supporting innovation in cost modeling and savings forecast development to deliver against multi-year financial targets.
Leveraging Generative AI tools to enhance analytics, visualization, and communication strategies across the procurement function.

Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 9 years of experience in a large or medium-sized professional procurement organization with at least 5+ years specifically in the life sciences industry
Project management experience
A proven track record of savings delivery and ability to manage complexity and change
Ability to analyze data to support savings, market trends and business driven decisions
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree (MBA, MS) preferred
Ability to work in a highly metric-driven environment and deliver against challenging performance targets
Professional Procurement certification (CPSM, MCIPS, Etc.) preferred
Strong presentation skills including verbal and written to deliver succinctly and effectively recommendations to senior leaders
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
Solution-oriented with a growth mindset and strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, identify and resolve issues, manage risk, and run internal team meetings as well as external meetings with proven track record in engaging teams together towards common deadlines
Ability to solicit and synthesize feedback and build consensus, while collaborating effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment
Ability to lead through influence, recommend sourcing strategies, and deliver business results.
Comfortable with ambiguity
Strong collaboration and communications skills required to address and resolve issues
