Head of Software Development

Remote: open to hybrid work (1–2 days per week from the Warsaw office)

Salary: PLN net / day (compensation to be determined based on expectations and experience)

Who are we looking for?

An experienced, confident, and highly communicative Head of Software Development / Tech Lead who will take full ownership of delivering software development. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Product, CTO, and Infrastructure Lead, acting as the key technology counterpart responsible for commissioning development work and accepting deliverables from internal and external providers. Experienced leader who can navigate complexity, influence stakeholders, and ensure delivery without direct line management at the start. Someone who combines structured thinking, strong communication, and technical understanding. In the future, the role may expand to include direct team leadership.

The platform leverages modern, scalable technologies, including:
Java, Spring, JPA, PostgreSQL, React, , Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Commission and validate development delivered in a fixed-price project model
• Cooperate closely with the Head of Product, CTO, and Infrastructure Lead
• Serve as the primary point of contact for development providers
• Ensure clarity of requirements, prioritization, delivery timelines, and acceptance criteria
• Maintain high communication standards across business and technology areas
• Oversee the entire development lifecycle and ensure quality of delivered work
• Potentially grow and lead a team in the future

Requirements

• Minimum 5–7 years of leading teams, preferably experience as a Head / Director
• Proven work with both internal and external stakeholders
• Leadership presence, confident in leading meetings and taking initiative
• Software development background - we do not expect deep, low-level Java coding expertise. Instead, we are looking for someone who understands: (architectural patterns and decision-making, when and how to use specific tools and technologies, how to enforce and scale engineering standards, how to organise work across distributed teams, how to resolve technical conflicts, how to guide vendors and ensure high-quality delivery)
• Strong English communication skills, ability to formulate thoughts instantly and clearly
• Work in distributed environments (nice to have)
• Experience in banking or fintech (nice to have)
• Experience running transformation programs (nice to have)
