Financial Engineer

This position involves software development within an international banking environment, focused on migrating and modernizing legacy analytical tools. The role sits within the Financial Engineering team, supporting Traded Risk and Treasury functions.

Key responsibilities:

• Migration of Legacy Tools:
  Rewrite and migrate existing Python and Excel/VBA-based tools into a modern, Django-based internal web platform.
• Business Logic Development:
  Re-implement business logic, including data extraction, transformation, and optimization; adapt existing workflows to platform requirements; redesign output presentation layers.
• End-to-End Application Delivery:
  Own application development from initial business analysis with SMEs through implementation, testing, documentation, and deployment to production.
• Platform Super-User:
  Collaborate closely with DevOps teams to improve platform processes, performance, and reliability; act as a power user of the internal platform.
• Data & Integration Work:
  Interface with databases, external systems, and internal APIs; work with large datasets and performance-critical data pipelines.

Skills required:

• Programming:
  Strong Python development skills; experience with Django/Flask and backend application design. Frontend knowledge is not a key but welcome.
• Data Processing:
  Proficiency with data-processing libraries, especially pandas, and also polars.
• Workflow & Automation:
  Experience with Airflow and REST API integration.
• Version Control & CI/CD:
  Daily use of Git, GitHub, Jenkins, and code-quality tools such as SonarQube.
• Monitoring & Logging:
  Familiarity with Splunk, Grafana, and related observability tools.
• Data Access:
  Good knowledge of SQL, JSON, MDX, NAS protocols, and working with external data systems.
• SDLC & Collaboration:
  Experience in Agile environments using Jira/Confluence; ability to conduct business analysis and translate requirements into technical designs.
