Your role in the team's success
As Platform Engineering Manager, you'll lead the team responsible for designing, building, and evolving the internal platforms that power software delivery across IG. These platforms provide the automation, pipelines, configuration management, and private-cloud patterns that underpin how applications are built, deployed, and operated.

You'll ensure that the platform offers a cohesive, compelling experience for developers — one that integrates the full range of build, deployment, and operational capabilities into a seamless and intuitive product. Your mission is to make our delivery platform secure, reliable, and frictionless, enabling engineers to move faster with confidence and compliance.

This is a platform engineering role in the truest sense: building and running reusable, self-service capabilities that empower product teams. You'll bring a product mindset — understanding customer needs, collecting feedback, experimenting, and demonstrating value through measurable outcomes such as adoption, satisfaction, and delivery speed.

What You'll Do
Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and represent technology within the Poland leadership team.
• Lead, develop, and inspire a team of platform engineers who build and operate shared services for CI/CD, automation, configuration management, and private-cloud enablement.
• Define and communicate a clear platform vision and roadmap aligned with IG's technology and business priorities.
• Apply product-led thinking: engage directly with development teams to understand their needs, measure experience quality, and deliver improvements that make their work faster and safer.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and open feedback loops.
• Balance innovation with operational reliability and compliance requirements.

Technical Direction

• Oversee the design and delivery of platform services that enable continuous integration, deployment automation, secure configuration, and environment management.
• Define and evolve reusable, secure, and compliant patterns for private cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with public-cloud standards.
• Lead the strategy for configuration management and automation tooling to standardise deployments and reduce operational risk.
• Ensure all platform components are observable, performant, and appropriately designed for their runtime environments, including traditional and containerised workloads.
• Champion developer experience and adoption by simplifying interfaces, providing clear documentation, and ensuring consistency across the engineering ecosystem.
• Maintain strong operational foundations through expertise in Linux-based platforms (RHEL/CentOS), ensuring reliability, security, and lifecycle management across environments.

Delivery & Operations

• Ensure operational excellence for all platform components: performance, availability, incident response, and lifecycle management.
• Use metrics such as DORA measures, adoption rates, and developer satisfaction to guide investment and demonstrate value.
• Manage team performance, delivery priorities, and stakeholder engagement across application engineering, infrastructure, and security functions.
• Oversee vendor integrations (e.g., GitLab, Artifactory, Venafi, F5, Akamai, Atlassian suite) to ensure quality and maintainability.

What You'll Bring
Essential Experience

• Proven experience leading platform engineering teams that build shared services and developer enablement platforms.
• Strong background in automation, CI/CD, configuration management, and Linux-based operating systems (RHEL/CentOS).
• Demonstrated experience defining and delivering private-cloud infrastructure patterns at enterprise scale.
• Excellent understanding of modern software delivery practices, deployment automation, and secure configuration.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to translate technical vision into business impact.
• Experience using engineering effectiveness or developer-experience metrics to drive improvement.
• Credibility to lead both technically and strategically — able to discuss architectural trade-offs, but also focus the team on outcomes.

Highly Desirable

• Experience in regulated industries such as financial services or fintech.
• Background in developer experience platforms, such as internal developer portals (e.g., Backstage or similar).
• Familiarity with DORA metrics and platform product management practices.
• Strong understanding of secure software delivery, risk management, and audit expectations.
