As a Transport Specialist specializing in International and Emerging Markets at Smith+Nephew, you will have a key role in analyzing and optimizing our transportation processes to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of our medical devices. You will utilize your analytical abilities and industry expertise to assess transportation data, spot trends, devise strategies to enhance transport efficiency, cut costs, and manage risks.

What will your responsibilities include?

  • Conducting detailed analysis of all transportation modes relevant to present and future distribution network, demonstrating deep understanding of transportation costs and additional charges to determine end-to-end expenditure
  • Contributing to the establishment and expansion of the central transport overview network, simplifying transport analysis for key projects
  • Identifying operational deficiencies and taking corrective measures with transport providers and internal collaborators
  • Establishing and implementing tools and SOPs to ensure compliance of European sites with European and global transport agreements
  • Performing on-site audits to pinpoint optimization opportunities and deviations from Transport SOPs to enhance local execution
  • Supervising carriers, setting objectives
  • Sharing expertise and standard processes within the Global transport community to enhance transport operations
  • Acting as a link between all involved parties: 3PL, Carriers, and Global teams
  • Assisting with freight-related initiatives

What do you need to succeed?

  • Educational and professional background in global transport and freight forwarding across all modes (Air, Ocean, Rail, Road)
  • 2-5 years of experience in transport and logistics. Knowledge of parcel delivery, freight forwarding (road, ocean, air, rail). Familiarity with end-to-end visibility and transport management tools
  • Experience with SAP and Power BI (desirable)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools like Microsoft Excel
  • Solid understanding of all transport modes (Air/Ocean/Road/network etc.)
  • Awareness of the current freight market
  • Ability to work autonomously, handle stress, prioritize business and customer needs, collaborate effectively in a team
