As a Data Scientist & Compliance Officer, you will have a crucial role in using data analytics to ensure compliance with AML regulatory requirements and promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the Detection Risk Coverage Organization. You will collaborate with different teams to create and execute data-driven solutions that strengthen compliance efforts and drive business growth and efficiency.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on AML transaction monitoring, advising senior management and stakeholders on compliance matters and risk reduction strategies.
  • Contribute to AML risk assessments and audits, aiding in risk identification and mitigation.
  • Prepare and deliver reports to regulatory bodies as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting deadlines.
  • Share findings and recommendations with key stakeholders through reports and presentations.
  • Offer guidance and training to staff on AML transaction monitoring processes, procedures, and regulations.
  • Use advanced data analytics techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and insights relating to compliance.
  • Create and implement automated compliance monitoring systems to continuously assess and enhance compliance efforts.
  • Develop predictive models and algorithms to predict compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with the legal and regulatory team to guarantee industry compliance.
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis to optimize compliance procedures.
  • Demonstrate the capability to analyze complex issues through root cause analysis and work effectively with minimal direct supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6-10 years of AML compliance experience, focusing on transaction monitoring in a financial institution or regulatory agency. A degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in compliance or data science, with relevant certifications such as ACAMS or ICA.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python and SQL is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with an emphasis on accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization techniques is a plus.
