Łukasiewicz Research Network - Krakow Institute of Technology is one of 22 Institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, one of the largest research networks in Europe, which provides companies with attractive, complete and competitive technologies combining science with business. We conduct scientific research, development and implementation work, produce prototype tools and devices, and also provide research and technological services. The recipients of our solutions include: representatives of the foundry, tool, aviation, medical and energy industries.

The Center for Materials and Manufacturing Technologies (CMW) specializes in design, manufacturing technologies, shaping, processing and research of materials in the following areas: iron, cobalt and nickel alloys, non-ferrous metal alloys, mold technologies, computer-aided technologies, additive manufacturing technologies, techniques sintering, machining and tooling, high temperature testing and corrosion testing.

Scope of tasks performed at the workplace:

1. Preparation of powders based on pure magnesium (Mg) and the AZ91E alloy: selection of the chemical composition of the mixture and the alloy, development of technology (method and parameters) for preparing the mixture and mechanical alloying with.

2. Conducting and interpreting the results of phase composition tests (qualitative and quantitative) using the XRD X-ray diffraction method of the obtained sinters (alloys, composites).

3. Performing dilatometric tests to develop points (temperatures) for the obtained samples in isothermal conditions.

4. Development of heat treatment parameters for selected materials (alloys, composites).

5. Supervision of work related to heat treatment using equipment available at the Łukasiewicz Research Network - Krakow Institute of Technology (including the Nabertherm VHT08-20 W TL furnace

6. Preparation of substantive reports on the progress of work and instructions/methodology for preparing the mixture and alloys obtained by mechanical alloying.

7. Preparation of substantive reports on the progress of work and technological instructions for heat treatment of developed alloys

8. Preparation of a publication / part of a publication regarding the technology of preparation and production of alloys / mixtures developed as part of the project.

1. Education: doctoral degree and 10 years of experience in the research and development sector, including participation in the implementation of research projects. Preferred candidates with a PhD in chemistry, materials science and physics.

2. Experience in implementing R&D projects: main contractor/project manager - at least 3 projects.

3. Extensive knowledge of material testing and the design of new materials / alloys based on powder materials.

4. Experience in the production of low-alloy materials.

5. Experience in cooperation with enterprises in the implementation of projects aimed at implementing practical results.

6. Knowledge in the field of heat treatment of metals / design of heat treatment processes.

7. Highly developed organizational skills.

8. Communication skills, ability to work in a team.

9. Ability to manage time and achieve set goals.

10. Knowledge of the Polish language at least C1 level.

11. Knowledge of English at least B2 level.
