Smith+Nephew is hiring Senior Finance Advisor, Emerging Markets HQ FP&A.


The FP&A Centre of Excellence (COE) at Smith & Nephew, established in 2020, aims to deliver quality insights and performance management supporting the company's Life Unlimited purpose. As part of the Emerging Markets HQ FP&A team, covering over 10 markets in Europe, Africa, and Asia, this role involves process management, reporting, consolidation, and digital tool development. It offers career growth opportunities, including potential for people management roles, requiring strong process improvement and project management skills, preferably with certifications. Advanced Excel and PowerBI skills are essential, with prior experience in TM1/Cognos and SAP preferred. This position involves collaboration with Cluster and Regional Marketing teams, driving cross-functional improvements, and working closely with Controllers & GBS. Reporting to the Emerging Markets FP&A Director, you'll be expected to demonstrate excellent soft skills, collaboration, and a learning mindset.

What you will be doing?

Analyse and interpret monthly financial performance: Perform high-level and detailed analysis, liaising with country teams to understand their performance.

Process creation and implementation: Design, prepare, and distribute processes and templates for forecasts and budgets throughout the organization.

Assist with forecasts and budgets: Support quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, tracking targets, initiatives, risks, and opportunities for various countries and regional functions.

Coordinate and deliver FP&A processes: Manage processes such as weekly sales reporting, monthly financial reviews, and KPI reporting.

Resolve complex problems: Find innovative solutions to complex issues as they arise.

Lead on finance systems: Act as a Super User for Group BI and Reporting platforms, driving the migration from Excel to Power BI.

Perform in-depth analysis: Provide insights, identify opportunities, and understand risks through detailed analysis.

Drive digitalisation and improvement: Promote continuous improvement, data quality enhancement, and adoption of digital tools for efficiency and insight.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in finance.

Extensive experience: At least 8 years in process and partnering roles within a multinational environment.

Relevant qualifications: ACCA/ACA/CIMA membership or progress towards these qualifications.

Strong interpersonal skills: Excellent teamwork, communication, and international business exposure.

Technical proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel and PowerBI, with knowledge of the MS Power suite, TM1, Hyperion, and SAP systems.

Presentation and process improvement skills: Strong ability to create and deliver presentations and improve processes.

Fluent English: Proficiency in English (verbal and written) at a C1 level.
