Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of a project focused on removing obsolete infrastructure software such as Java, Python, and Virtual C++ versions from the organization's systems. The Project Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage resources, and ensure that the project meets its goals while maintaining compliance with security and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Initiation

2. Stakeholder Management & Communication

3. Risk & Issue Management:

a. Conduct a risk assessment for each obsolete software version, prioritizing removal or upgrade based on the level of vulnerability, system criticality, and usage.

4. Execution & Coordination:

a. Oversee the end-to-end process of removing obsolete versions of Java, Python, Virtual C++, and other infrastructure software.

b. Coordinate the testing, validation, and rollout of new software versions, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

5. Driving of Removal Process:

a. Drive the execution of the decommissioning or upgrade of outdated software, including hands-on technical involvement where necessary.

b. Coordinate closely with IT Operations, Security, and Application teams to ensure a smooth transition to updated versions.

6. Change Management:

a. Implement change management processes, including preparing change requests, approvals, and impact assessments for software removals.

b. Work closely with the IT change advisory board (CAB) to get approvals for system-wide changes.

7. Compliance & Security Assurance:

a. Ensure that the removal and upgrading of software align with company policies, security standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

b. Maintain thorough documentation of project actions, decisions, and results. 

Preferred Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification.
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent (preferred).
  • Certifications in cloud infrastructure or relevant technologies (optional).
  • This Project Manager role will be instrumental in ensuring the organization's infrastructure software remains secure, up-to-date, and compliant by leading the removal of obsolete software versions. The role requires excellent project management skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to deliver a successful outcome.
