Job Description:

Verisk is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager who will be working in our growing GL Team and acting as a process expert and people leader. We are looking for someone with great technical accounting skills as well as highly developed soft skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the monthly financial close process for the Verisk Service Center, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, as well as reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
  2. Interact with the business unit controllers and International Edinburgh hub to produce a timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close.
  3. Prepare and review detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
  4. Responsible for overseeing multiple accounting areas, including but not limited to, Prepaid Expenses, Commissions, Fixed Assets, month-end accruals, etc.
  5. Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
  6. Collaborate with both internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  7. Close cooperation with local Team Leader in people management aspects.
  8. Good understanding of RTR processes (Intercompany, Reporting, Cash Management, and Treasury).
  9. Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.
  10. Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual Performance Plan.
  11. Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. 5-8 years of accounting experience required – (General Ledger and Technical Accounting is strongly preferred).
  2. Working knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS rules required.
  3. Experience in a service center environment.
  4. Proven expertise in understanding evolving accounting issues and possess innovative decision-making abilities.
  5. Large ERP experience (with Oracle Fusion a plus).
  6. Experience in supervising and coaching a team of employees to drive team development.
  7. Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively both with local teams and with US/UK.
  8. Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership.
  9. Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources, and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments.
  10. Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills are required.
  11. Willingness to work as a full-time employee in a hybrid model from Cracow-based office.

Skills/Education:

  1. Master's degree in accounting or related field required.
  2. Professional accounting qualification ACCA would be an additional asset.
  3. Fluency in English required (C1 level plus).
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
