General Ledger Team Leader (payroll and corporate accounting team)

Your impact

The General Ledger accounting teams are the "gate-keepers" of the financial statements. The General Ledger is the central core of accounting information system that provides a complete record of financial transactions over the life of the company.

Key responsibilities of our General Ledger Accounting Team Leader include:

  1. Managing up to 10 direct reports (accountants in different grades) in one of the GBS teams
  2. Assisting Manager, Corporate Accounting Director, corporate Tax department and other corporate functions in ad hoc requests, as needed
  3. Providing information to management by researching data requests and communicating findings, preparing report
  4. Providing documentation and preparing schedules to support both internal and external SOX and financial audits
  5. Leading calls with regional/corporate counterparties
  6. Reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries and other tasks performed by the team
  7. Open items review and supporting resolution
  8. Filling in any ad hoc queries
  9. MoM trend analysis review
  10. Covers for admin tasks in Manager's absence
  11. Reviewing rollforwards, reporting files and global analysis/reconciliations
  12. Organizing work of the team ensuring process continuity
  13. Driving process improvements/changes
  14. Participating in transition of work to GBS and driving process stabilization efforts within the area of responsibility
  15. Driving career development of subordinates
  16. Motivating team members
  17. Overseeing all activities within a team
  18. Developing team strengths and improving weaknesses
  19. Organizing team initiatives
  20. Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of and is accountable for the results of a small team of professionals
  21. Setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion
  22. Coordinating work activities with other supervisors
  23. Identifying difficult situations/conflicts, preventing them if possible or working on their resolution
  24. Manager/tracker of deadlines
  25. Guiding others in resolving complex issues in specialized area based on existing solutions and procedures
  26. Providing technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
  27. Providing input on resource planning and policy development, coaching team members on performance, completing employee performance evaluations and recommending pay actions
  28. Various other duties as assigned by manager or may be necessary

Here's what you'll need:

  1. Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit or Tax, equivalent major or equivalent experience/professional qualifications
  2. 7+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance (preferred payroll experience), including 2-3 years of people management experience
  3. Delegation skills
  4. Strong organizational skills
  5. Proactive ability to recognize and resolve issues and complex problems
  6. Strong leadership skills in the areas of motivation and professional development of subordinates
  7. Talent to work/interact/communicate appropriately with different cultures
  8. Ability to multi-task duties, projects, deadlines
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as the position requires direct interaction with senior management, executives and other functional groups and departments
  10. Prioritizing work to meet project/team deliverables
  11. Understanding and supporting company goals
  12. Understanding of GL dept. and other Company's Functional teams (treasury, I/A, tax etc.)
  13. Interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices
  14. Considering multiple perspectives to identify different solutions
  15. Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies and procedures
  16. Applying acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent
  17. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and oversight from manager

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Practical knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and controls
  2. Experience with US Global Organization
  3. Ability and willingness to be flexible and work late hours, especially during month end and quarter end close, to allow successful cooperation with US time zone-based teams and stakeholders
