We are recruiting for an International business that has a head office in the UK. The business is a Big 4 audited business. The role we are recruiting is a Chief Accountant / Financial Controller based in Warsaw. The role will report directly into the Country Finance Manager, with a dotted line to the Regional Financial Controller.
Location: Warsaw – Onsite 5 days a week for the first 3 months and then more of a hybrid model.
This role will be responsible for managing a small team of accountants and overseeing the accounting and tax compliance for 3 other entities with scope to increase in the future.

As a Chief Accountant, you will be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring smooth and accurate accounting processes across multiple functions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the general ledger and financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy, including account reviews and necessary accruals.
- Managing payables, receivables, and invoicing processes to guarantee accuracy and full reconciliation.
- Developing and maintaining strong billing practices and controls, ensuring an efficient credit collection process and monitoring debtor levels.
- Managing and optimizing local cash flows and fostering relationships with external financial stakeholders such as banks, auditors, and tax advisors.
- Implementing robust controls for purchasing and ensuring fixed asset management is in line with best practices.
- Preparing accurate and timely reporting on key financial metrics, including KPI tracking, cash flow forecasts, and debt collections.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements, tax filings, and regulatory standards, while maintaining clear communication on local accounting practices.
- Designing and enforcing a system of internal controls and financial policies in line with organizational standards and external regulations.
- Collaborating with HR for payroll-related processes and ensuring finance system users are properly trained to maximize efficiency.
Who We're Looking For:
- Experienced & Detail-Oriented: You bring several years of experience in finance, tax, and accounting operations, ideally in a commercial setting.
- Technically Proficient: Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS, with the ability to reconcile statutory and management reporting.
- Excellent Communicator: You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of building relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing key decisions.
- Adaptable & Organized: You thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Excel Expert: Your advanced Excel skills are second to none, and you are comfortable working with financial data and systems.
- Bilingual: Fluency in both Polish and English, written and spoken, is essential for this role.
