Global Procurement has an exciting opportunity within its Procure-to-Pay (P2P) global process owner (GPO) team. The role will have responsibility for ensuring operational procurement activities across HSBC globally are supported and managed by a best-in-class framework of processes and controls.
Global Procurement is one of our Digital Business Services teams, who are the foundation of HSBC, providing essential support across technology, operations and key central business services for our global businesses and functions. Global Procurement manages commercial relationships and partnerships with key suppliers and the end-to-end supplier life-cycle. We play a fundamental role in the day-to-day provision of goods and services for the HSBC Group. Our primary focus is to deliver commercial value through all areas of procurement worldwide. We work closely with other parts of HSBC to provide leadership of the bank’s third-party supplier relationship.
What you’ll do
Ensure that, post completion of source to contract activities, appropriate channels are in place for purchasing goods and services required by HSBC’s Global Businesses and Functions. These channels are diverse and continue to evolve, leveraging technology and automation, including global ERPs.
Ensure that these channels are not only in place, but underpinned by clearly defined, globally consistent processes and robust controls. They will ensure appropriate documentation and knowledge base is embedded and act as a point of contact for process queries/escalations.
Operate seamlessly with other parts of the P2P scope, the GPOs, and operational teams, to ensure that at all times the end-to-end process is considered and optimised.
Ongoing requirement to support change initiatives both within Procurement and across the Bank, ensuring Operational Procurement is represented, requirements considered, and any impacts embedded into the operations.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
Significant experience of Operational Procurement functions and processes, including within a complex global organisation.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as the role demands a high volume of written process documents, communications, supporting and training materials, and presentations. Strong analytical skills and an ability to take issues from an unstructured problem/ask to a clearly defined, executable requirement
Demonstrable knowledge of the components, processes and controls which comprise Operational Procurement.
Strong experience and understanding of the broader P2P process including how Operational Procurement impacts Accounts Payable and vice versa.
Understanding and experience of operating within a SOX environment and applicability to P2P.
Experience of facing off to Audit (internal and external) and Risk steward stakeholders
Experience of successful end to end delivery of process change into a global organisation and the ability to balance global design with local requirements.
Experience of working with IT teams to deliver technical solutions and automation and an understanding of P2P systems. Experience of working within or in conjunction with operational teams.
