The Role

This leadership position within the Sea Engineering team is responsible for ensuring comprehensive support for the team in delivering software solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The Technical Lead collaborates directly with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and other Engineering Managers to execute Sea's overarching technical strategy.

A key aspect of this role is direct collaboration with the Product Trio, comprising a Product Manager, Tech Lead, and Product Designer, as well as an extended team of Software, DevOps, Data, and Test Engineers. This partnership ensures that any technical or operational roadblocks are promptly addressed, enabling the team to deliver on their agreed priorities within the OKR framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to team members and colleagues as needed, facilitating the successful delivery of product and engineering solutions.
  • Cultivate a culture of openness, honesty, and constructive challenge, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Foster knowledge-sharing and cross-functional collaboration within and across the wider Engineering teams.
  • Support other Engineering Managers and the CTO in driving change, including technical, procedural, and structural updates.
  • Manage the team effectively, removing blockers and ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools to excel in their roles.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions to understand individual strengths, learning areas, and career aspirations.
  • Ensure the team has access to the right tools and personnel to deliver their commitments, participating in hiring and restructuring when necessary.
  • Help identify and implement new processes within the team or as part of broader initiatives.
  • Cultivate effective collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams, interacting with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps functions.

  • Experience working in international teams, with a proven ability to manage and contribute to remote teams.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in Product-led Engineering teams, with expertise in managing Engineering teams within a software delivery organization.
  • Understanding of Agile software delivery methodologies and experience with cloud-based web environments, modern technologies, and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to both team members and senior leaders.
  • Cost tracking and management skills, with knowledge of Microsoft .NET, frontend frameworks, MS SQL, and database concepts.
  • Understanding of APIs, Cloud implementations, and architecture (MS Azure), as well as services offered by cloud providers.
