About the Role

We are seeking a Central and Eastern Europe Analyst to join our Europe team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the politics and political economy of Central and Eastern Europe, with excellent analytical and communication skills.

The successful candidate will support our clients by providing comprehensive analysis and insights into political and economic trends in the region. This role involves conducting in-depth research, leveraging a network of contacts, and reporting regularly on key issues.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support coverage of Central and Eastern Europe for key clients, including domestic politics, economic trends, sectoral developments, and foreign policy issues.
  2. Conduct in-depth research on current and future political and economic trends.
  3. Leverage a network of contacts in Poland, Hungary, and Romania within policymaking, think tank, and academic fields.
  4. Report and analyze political and economic developments regularly, tracking key issues in the region.
  5. Prepare briefs, speaking notes, and background materials for client-facing presentations.
  6. Collect data and perform quantitative and qualitative research, providing strategic advice and thought leadership.
  7. Support the Europe Research team in project management, client relationship maintenance, and resource mobilization.
  8. Produce both short analyses and longer reports, often briefing clients on content.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in one or more Central and Eastern European languages is essential.
  • Advanced degree in political science, international relations, or a related discipline (master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in both public and private sectors; management consulting or managing complex projects is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in political and economic analysis of Central and Eastern Europe.
  • Deep knowledge of Poland, Hungary, and Romania's political and economic environments; familiarity with broader European developments is advantageous.
  • Exceptional oral presentation skills in English, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-expert audiences; candidates will undergo a writing test.
  • Understanding of macroeconomic and financial market concepts is preferable.
  • Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities effectively.
