Associate, European Initiative for Energy Security (EIES)

Opportunity

The European Initiative for Energy Security (EIES), established in December 2023, is a mission-driven organisation which advocates for pan-European and national policies that improve our collective resource security and economic competitiveness as Europe moves from a fossil-fuel to a minerals- and clean-tech based energy system. EIES is dedicated to fostering collaboration between policymakers and industry leaders to address critical energy challenges and champion comprehensive solutions for the benefit of Europe's energy security, transition, and industrial transformation. EIES works with its Energy Security Leadership Council-Europe (ESLC-Europe), composed of former military and political figures and current business leaders, to achieve these goals.

The Role

The Policy Associate will work with EIES' Poland Director and the organisation's team across Europe to support the delivery of EIES' objectives on energy infrastructure and supply chain security, including critical raw materials, and competitiveness. He/she will strengthen EIES' policy, communications and advocacy work and expand our stakeholder engagement with key actors in the public and private sectors in Poland.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development
: Working with EIES' Poland Director, implement EIES' energy security and industrial competitiveness advocacy strategy at the national level. Contribute to EIES' research projects and the development and delivery of policy recommendations.

Advocacy
: S
upport and strengthen EIES' collective engagement with policymakers, private sector and civil society actors by developing a network of contacts in relevant policy areas. Work with the EIES team across Europe to deliver EIES' advocacy strategy in relevant fora, especially through the preparation of tailored briefings for decision-makers.

Events and Communications
:
Prepare and contribute to communications products such as presentations, briefings, and reports for internal and external use; support preparations for events, presentations, and meetings with external partners.

Travel may be required.

Professional Skills and Qualifications

Required

Full professional fluency in
English and Polish
(written and spoken).

Master's degree in public policy, political science, international relations, energy economics or a closely related field.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in public administration, NGOs, think tanks, industry, or EU/Polish institutions.

Solid understanding of Polish and European politics and processes and of energy/ natural resources, industrial and/or security policy issues. Insights into the European/global energy transformation and geopolitical ramifications.

Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear policy messages.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and contribute to team projects in a fast-paced policy environment.

Team player and collaborator who is open and transparent about process and progress. Willing to pitch in, roll up sleeves and help others when needed.

Comfortable with working across cultures, in particular within a transatlantic context.

Mission-driven, embraces EIES' mission, vision and strategic direction.

Good sense of humour.

Desirable

Experience working with or within the private sector, Polish administration, EU institutions, or international energy organisations.

Familiarity with key Polish stakeholders in the energy, industrial, critical minerals, and/or security sectors, including corporate players and industry groups/associations.

Event planning, stakeholder engagement, or project management experience. Media experience is a plus.
