Private sector financial development plays a pivotal role in fostering successful and resilient economies in low and middle-income countries worldwide. Efficient financial markets can facilitate resource allocation to boost job creation and economic expansion. Focusing on investing in the financial sector, IFC aims to catalyze development across multiple industries.


The Financial Institution Group (FIG) stands as one of IFC's primary departments, responsible for a substantial share of IFC's business operations and impact, approximately 40%. FIG operates across various sub-sectors such as Microfinance, SME, Gender, Climate, Insurance, and Capital Markets, providing investment and advisory services globally to IFC clients through its extensive network. With a commitment to financial inclusion, servicing the real economy, and mobilizing external resources, FIG's Europe team, headquartered in Vienna, Bucharest, and Belgrade, drives new business development and portfolio management across the region.


The FIG Europe Regional Industry Team is currently seeking an E T Consultant/ Investment Analyst to deliver operational and analytical support throughout the Europe Region, requiring strong local market knowledge and industry expertise. The positions are based in Warsaw, Poland.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on industry and country developments in supervised projects, analyzing their competitive strengths and weaknesses to forecast performance and raise potential issues.
  • Engage in client negotiations for financial rescheduling, restructurings, and investment covenant adjustments as part of a team.
  • Participate in project evaluations for new investments across all stages, contributing to financial modeling and analysis.
  • Assist in assessing development impact and articulating IFC's role in straightforward transactions.
  • Monitor client compliance with IFC agreements, conduct covenant reviews, and propose actions for non-compliance.
  • Prepare disbursement requests, including waiver recommendations, and generate project supervision reports and credit risk ratings.
  • Utilize financial analyses to propose suitable financial structures for problematic projects.
  • Coordinate efficiently with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Environment & Social, and Economists.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in finance.
  • 2-3 years of experience in financial institutions, specializing in financial investment, portfolio management, auditing, corporate finance, or economics.
  • Expertise in project analysis, accounting, financial statement analysis, and familiarity with credit institutions financials.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling for project finance, corporate debt, equity, and hybrid investments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business-oriented mindset.
  • Good understanding of credit risk, loan/investment documentation, and ability to conduct market and industry research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the capacity to deliver concise and logical analyses.
  • Capability to leverage graphics and tables for data presentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple investments concurrently while staying current on their status.
  • Team player with a proactive approach, client-centric, open to feedback, and innovative ideas.
  • Genuine interest in sustainable development and emerging markets.
