We have an opportunity for an experienced Shift Engineering Manager to join our Team.

Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, the Shift Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of multi skilled shift engineers, providing planned, corrective, and reactive support to the manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will gain experience with one of the UK’s largest bakery businesses, and work closely with a friendly and engaging team from both a site and group perspective, offering opportunities for growth and long-term career development.

This is what you’ll actually do

The successful candidate will support the Engineering Maintenance Manager by managing the day-to-day departments priorities and deputise for the Engineering Maintenance Manager in his absence. They will contribute to the continuous improvement of business performance by achieving personal and site objectives, participating, and fully supporting the site Operating Brilliance Process (OBP), and contributing to cross functional objectives if required.

The candidate will provide direction and support to the Engineering team, managing and facilitating staff performance and dealing with any RTW’s, absence, disciplinary and grievances when required. They will also carry out specific plant improvement projects when required in their designated areas of responsibility.

They will become fully conversant with all Engineering H&S management systems on site including the correct procedures in the event of an incident or Emergency and take a lead role in the event of any unplanned site incident.Help maintain & improve the department H&S standards, assist with all aspects of contractor control, including PTW’s, authorising risk assessments/method statements and general contractor supervision.They will be responsible for carrying out food safety related investigations when required, following customer complaints and internal factory incidents / audits.

Ideally this is you

Self-motivated and well organized.  Experienced man manager able to provide leadership to engineering team members. Time served engineer (electrical/ mechanical/ multiskilled) Good communication and numeracy skills Proactive and flexible approach to work/ take ownership. Preferred knowledge of CMMS systems. Mentor/coaching style management approach to enhance teamwork. Capable of influencing and confidently communicating at senior management level and below
