We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our team of data scientists and engineers focused on volume management solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost control.

Job Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of data scientists and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining a strong focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, volume management, operational, user experience, analytics, and business teams, to prioritize tasks and align with business objectives.
  • Delivery Time Predictions: Develop advanced data analysis and machine learning techniques to predict delivery times, including crafting algorithms and performing simulations.
  • Innovation: Design and develop cutting-edge data products to support analytics and business decision-making, focusing on delivery time prediction.
  • Performance Metrics: Oversee key performance indicators like depot utilization, delivery time prediction accuracy, cost per parcel, and One Box utilization.
  • Data Management: Collaborate with engineers to ensure the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data and pipelines.
  • Research Participation: Contribute to research activities whose findings and recommendations directly influence the development direction of search products.
  • Communication/Data Visualization: Present clear, visually focused communication of advanced data insights to non-technical stakeholders through report writing and presenting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in managing technical teams, with a proven track record of setting and delivering realistic yet ambitious goals.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive decision-making.
  • Familiarity with at least one JVM language: Java/Kotlin/Scala/Groovy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • The capacity to work closely with the business, reconciling technical and business issues.
  • A willingness to continuously develop and broaden your knowledge.
  • English language proficiency at B2 level minimum.

We practice Code Review, Continuous Integration, Scrum/Kanban, Domain Driven Design, Test Driven Development, and Pair Programming, depending on the team.
