Position Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our enzyme development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in protein engineering, directed evolution, and high-throughput enzyme engineering technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, expressing, and purifying enzymes with desirable activities for applications in life sciences and diagnostics fields.

The Senior Research Scientist will work closely with our cross-functional team to support both internal and external projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and constructing overexpression DNA constructs
  • Executing and troubleshooting protein expression and purification processes
  • Participating in protein expression optimization and purification at different scales
  • Designing and implementing new assays for enzyme characterization
  • Using directed evolution methods and protein engineering approaches to create novel enzymes or variants
  • Initiating research projects and programs to support internal and external customers

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Enzymology, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of academic or industry experience
  • Extensive experience in protein expression in E. coli and Yeast, purification techniques, and analytical methods
  • Broad experience and knowledge in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, gene assembly, and cloning
  • In-depth knowledge of enzymes used in molecular biology, especially polymerases and ligases, and molecular biology methods for nucleic acid analysis
