Transforming Healthcare through Strategic Sourcing

Baxter is a leading global MedTech company, and we're seeking a talented Category Manager to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you'll be responsible for developing and executing best-in-class sourcing strategies for the Resin category.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain global market knowledge of assigned commodities, supplier technologies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Act as a resource to operations teams using procurement knowledge.
  • Define global subcategory segmentation and recommend consolidation strategies to leverage business volumes.
  • Implement assigned commodity strategy based on regional markets, suppliers, and plants.
  • Analyze competitive manufacturing costs and suggest strategies to decrease expenditure.
  • Craft cost-saving opportunities through competitive bidding, supplier development, and continuous improvements.
  • Improve and supervise suppliers' performance, establish service levels, and ensure timely resolution of disputes.
  • Negotiate contracts, support supplier recovery plans, work with critical suppliers, lead sourcing projects, manage supplier relationships, and support business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree; MBA desirable. CPM preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in Procurement or related fields.
  • Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million-dollar contracts and agreements and major policies.
  • Risk management skills required to drive innovative solutions and problem-solving analysis and resolution.
  • Seasoned negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, complex RFQ's, and innovative purchasing tools.
  • Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure.
  • High-level technical proficiency. Engineering or other technical training preferred.
  • In-depth understanding in building category strategies and sophisticated pricing arrangements and supplier profitability.
  • Variety of types of raw material resin, colorants, and plastic knowledge are preferred.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, corrective and preventative action, product quality assurance systems, and supplier performance development and evaluation is helpful.
  • Proficient English is a must.
  • Travel of 20-30% including global travel may be required.
