About the Role

Brown Brothers Harriman is seeking a highly skilled Operations Specialist to join our Trade Management and Settlement team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our trade management and settlement processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure daily output standards for quality and timeliness are met.
  • Coordinate control/production related activities, including viewing work ticket queues and trade reports.
  • Coordinate intraday and end of day prioritization and reconciliation of daily work/proof and control.
  • Help ensure all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Manage daily production reporting.
  • Manage trades' inquiries on daily basics – both internal and external.
  • Utilize various resources to provide comprehensive responses to clients.
  • Liaise with global counterparts.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to trade inquiries, including fail trade research, trade copies, market practice requirements, and market to market transfers.
  • Monitor and assist in the resolution of trade issues and inquiries by clients and brokers.
  • Escalate potential exposure items on trades not settling by deadline or trades being held overnight to the supervisor.
  • Interact with other BBH departments to resolve issues.
  • Help identify and document errors to reduce exposures.
  • Communicate professionally and constructively to effectively resolve issues and minimize risk and exposure.
  • Review and verify work of team members.
  • Provide training on BBH settlement systems to new employees and existing employees on new tasks and functions within the group.
  • Contribute to and maintain a high level of teamwork with Trade Processing.
  • Assist team members with day-to-day activities and provide backup support.
  • Escalate potential exposure items on outstanding trades to the supervisor.
  • Utilize and operate all tools and technology appropriate to the role.
  • Have an understanding of the big picture – how specific functions impact the firm.

Desired Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of Custody or Securities processing or other industry experience.
  • Research, analysis, and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally through effective verbal and written skills.
  • Organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
