The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) is an esteemed research institution that opens the competition for the position of Lead Data Architect for Astrophysics Projects at The Astrophysics Division.

As a member of our team, you will be working on an international project funded by the ACME Horizon Europe grant. This project concerns the development and maintenance of the BHTOM.space platform, which is used to manage a global network of astronomical telescopes. The selected candidate will begin their journey with us, collaborating closely with leading research institutions, including the University of Cambridge, the Institute of Astrophysics in Crete, and the Las Cumbres Observatory in California, USA.

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Data Architect to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing software development in collaboration with a team of IT specialists and astronomers. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and implementing new features for the system, overseeing data flow, and optimizing data processing workflows. Additionally, you will supervise software on cloud platforms such as AWS and create and maintain technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing scalable web solutions and developing efficient data processing pipelines
  • Managing cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
  • Collaborating closely with international project partners to ensure seamless communication and coordination
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong knowledge of Python and Django. Proficiency in tools like Git, Jira, and Docker is also essential. Experience working with cloud computing, particularly AWS, is highly valued. You should also have the ability to design scalable web solutions and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
