University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Department of the Jewish Studies at the Faculty of Letters

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements:

1. Hold a PhD degree in the humanities.

2. Research achievements and publications in the field of literary studies related to the history of Polish literature in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as new methodologies in literary research.

3. Fluent proficiency in the Polish language in speech and writing, and fluency in English, at least at the B2 level.

4. Experience teaching at a university, particularly in teaching classes on the history of Polish literature of the period and Polish literature after 1989.

5. Experience organizing teaching activities at a university-level institution and organizing scientific conferences, academic discussions, lectures, and master workshops.

The hiring committee will also take into account the following additional criteria related to the research profile of the Department of Polish Literature of the 20th and 21st centuries and the educational needs of the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław:

  • Research achievements and publications in the field of the interwar period of Polish literary history.
  • Experience in scholarly work with literary archives, regional studies.
  • Popularization of academic knowledge, and collaboration with cultural institutions.

Responsibilities (research, teaching, organization)

1. Conducting research in the field of literary studies and Polish studies of the 20th and 21st Century, including applying for internal, national, and international grants, in accordance with the criteria established by the relevant Scientific Council.

2. Publishing the results of research with affiliation to the University of Wrocław and their documentation through the Library of the Institute of Polish Philology.

3. Active participation in the activities of the Institute and its organization (e.g. department meetings, national and international conferences).

4. Compliance with copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific, and creative activities.

5. Assuming teaching activities and administrative work related to the assistant position in accordance with current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.

6. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process as indicated by the Director of the Institute of Polish Philology and the Head of the Department of Polish Literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements or an explanation of the lack of them.
