Capex Category Manager for Strategic Equipment Sourcing

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver long-term programs for processing equipment, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), and related services. The chosen individual will develop sourcing strategies that meet the costs and timelines of identified projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive sourcing plans for assigned categories, focusing on cost reduction and supplier optimization.
  • Foster contractual relationships with suppliers, prioritizing total cost of ownership through a long-term oriented supply base.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to optimize equipment specifications and maximize processing output.
  • Design sub-category strategies that contribute toward organizational goals.
  • Mentor internal stakeholders on contracted program applications.
  • Manage medium to complex projects as assigned, ensuring timely execution and budgetary adherence.
  • Implement standardized sourcing processes and create regional/global supply agreements.
  • Support multiple facilities within the region with ongoing capital equipment project purchases (RFx, Analysis, Negotiation & Award processes).
  • Evaluate and implement an integrated program with assigned category suppliers.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in technical goods sourcing, preferably in Electricity and Natural Gas sourcing activities.
  • Project Management expertise, ideally in a multi-plant or international environment.
  • A proven track record in RFI/RFP procedures for capital equipment sourcing and MRO.
  • Strong negotiation skills, a hands-on attitude, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across various plants simultaneously, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Prior procurement experience in the food processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries is essential.
  • Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of French considered an asset.
