About the Role

We are seeking an experienced lawyer and manager to join our Global Contracts Legal team in Gdansk, Poland. As Senior Legal Manager, Team Leader, you will lead a team that provides legal support to various State Street's businesses and corporate functions globally in negotiating a variety of agreements and providing other types of legal support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of lawyers, projects, and legal processes and agreements supported by the team.
  • Be responsible for governance of key internal documents and templates.
  • Support your team in negotiations of complex agreements (NDAs, product agreements, etc.) and other in-scope legal support provided by your team.
  • Lead and coordinate the internal Custody Agreements Training Program and provide subsequent legal support.
  • Support your team as a first point for escalations (for legal and operational issues).
  • Work closely with the Head of Global Contracts Legal, internal legal, and business colleagues to deliver best-quality legal services and address corporate-wide initiatives.
  • Handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with careful legal analysis and attention to detail.
  • Exercise sound legal and business judgment in dealing with clients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Excellent people and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical legal analysis skills.
  • Excellent contracts negotiation skills.
  • Experience in custody agreements and/or other complex agreement types and willingness to learn new areas of law, contract types, and legal skills.
  • Understanding of international financial regulations.
  • Excellent legal and business English language skills.
  • Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative culture that values teamwork and inclusivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive and wide-ranging working relationships with colleagues, including the ability to appropriately challenge and offer an alternative point of view.
  • Ability to interact with and navigate multiple levels and functional areas within a large organization.
  • Ability to provide practical guidance to assist your team and supported business.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Law school graduate (attorney-at-law license in any jurisdiction is a plus).
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably within the financial services sector and/or international law firm or international company.
