Job Title: Senior Technical Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Senior Technical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our technical support team, you will provide expert-level technical support for the installation, configuration, and deployment of SAS software running on Java Application Servers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second-level support for external and internal customers
  • Prioritize, diagnose, and manage customer-reported problems, including writing thorough, detailed problem descriptions
  • Prepare and review written documentation
  • Participate in installations of SAS software that utilize third-party application servers
  • Record and manage confirmed software bugs
  • Provide product feedback to development and marketing
  • Build technical relationships with appropriate groups and individuals in development and with third-party Java Runtime and application server providers
  • Report and track feature requests and problems with third-party vendors
  • Provide both formal and informal training to Technical Support staff on various application server topics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, mathematics, or a related business or quantitative field
  • Proven experience working in the middleware sector, e.g., Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, etc.
  • 5 or more years of experience programming, testing, software consulting, technical support, or supporting complex software applications
  • Work experience with architecture and deployment of enterprise-class Java web applications
  • Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming in Java
  • Working knowledge of SAS Visual Analytics
  • Working knowledge of SAS 9 Business Intelligence Platform client/server n-tier architecture or similar architecture
  • Experience writing and debugging script files on Windows and UNIX
  • Knowledge of file system security
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and networks
  • Familiarity with advanced web technologies, including web authentication, DAV, SSL, web services, and SOAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of varied technical backgrounds
  • Ability to handle deadlines in a multitasking environment
  • Ability to resolve user questions through a combination of independent study, investigative programming, and collaborative efforts with team members
  • Previous technical support experience
  • Ability to travel as needed
